Position:  English Language Training (ELT) Instructors
Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia 
 
BlueForce, Inc., is seeking candidates for an English Language Training (ELT) Instructor to support the United States Government (USG) Security Assistance and Security Cooperation program at the Technical Studies Institute (TSI) facility at King Abdul Aziz AB (KAAB), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (SA).
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a US Citizen, Third Country National (TCN) or Local National (LN)
  • Must have command over the American English language
  • Must have a valid Passport
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in ESL, EFL, English, (Applied) Linguistics or some other appropriate fields
  • Other appropriate education credential fields will include a B.S./M.S., or a B.A./M.A. in some type of educational field (coursework relevant to the field of ESL), so long as the degree is not awarded in special education, vocational education, counseling, learning disabilities, and other similar educational areas. Twelve credit hours are allowed for a 120 hour TESOL or CELTA certificate.
  • Must have five (5) years of professional experience teaching ESL/EFL to adults, during which time the instructor must have planned, prepared, and coordinated the instructional activities for adult students.
  • Must be able to communicate with and instruct IMSs in English language articulations, fluency, and pitch/quality of sound that will communicate course requirements, objectives, theory and content.
  • Applicants will need to provide supporting documents (i.e. official copies of transcripts that contain the university’s official seal, certification, proof of training, resumes) in verifying their qualifications. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Instructors should speak, read, write, and understand the English language, and shall be free of any speech impediments.
  • Instructors shall possess a great deal of tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Personality, appearance, and general bearing shall be such as to reflect credit upon the USG. 
  • Additional Qualifications:
     
    • Experience with teaching in the Middle East region
    • Experience with instructing students in military programs
    • Experience with working in academic administrative roles
    • Ability to speak a second language, including Arabic a plusAbility to apply educational technology, instructional techniques, and enhancements in the classroom
    • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The ELT Instructor shall conduct General English classes to facilitate successful accomplishment of International Military Student (IMS) entry into technical/professional training. The ELT Instructor shall provide IMSs with a total ELT immersion (English language in the classroom) in the American English language.  Other duties include: 
  • Evaluate, advise, and assist IMSs by assigning and correcting homework, diagnosing academic problems, planning and providing remedial training classes, and counseling IMSs on their academic progress. This shall be documented in the electronic IMS file.
  • Maintain TSI provided library of language learning materials to support and enhance ELT
  • Maintain content, staff, and make available an English language acquisition in a TSI provided facilities for IMSs to use outside the normal six hour ELT class. This includes the following:  
  • A Learning Center which provides additional software and media to aid language acquisition, movies, tapes, dvds.
  • The Learning Center Facility may be combined/co-located with the Library.
  • A Computer Based Training (CBT) Lab.  
  • Other Position Information:
     
    • The IMS-Instructor ratio is 8:1
    • All academic days shall consist of six (6) 50 minute class periods. Each class period is followed by a ten-minute break.
    • An instructional week shall consist of five consecutive days.
    • The remaining instructor work hours shall be used for lesson planning, professional development, remedial, and ELT administrative duties.
    • Lunch will be for one hour.
    • If the RSAF requires extended breaks, the instructors will reduce the remaining class time periods so that an 8-hour duty day is not exceeded.
